Ice Cream Cake

Hello All,

I have to get back to blogging after the break. We are all back to our routines, the kids and Ed are back to school and I’m back to doing what ever I do every day. Frankly I don’t think I got a break, I kept doing what I do, (my version) feeding, bathing, carting around the kids, (Ed’s version) I lay on the couch watching TV, take naps in the bedroom with the door locked so the kids can’t wake me up! I like my version better so you can go with that one.

I have lots to report, and many pictures to go through, from our time off together but I’ll get to that another day today I’m just posting a little story from yesterday that cracked me up.

My Dad’s birthday was last week; we didn’t get to go see him on the actually day due to work and activity schedules. So Sunday morning before church, the kids and I stopped at the grocery store and got a football ice cream cake to surprise him after church. He loved the surprise, and the kids loved eating ice cream cake at 8:30 AM. My parents insisted on sending some of the cake home with us because their freezer was too full. Turns out my freezer was even more packed than theirs and we had NO room to put the cake.

Now being that it was 31 degrees in the sun, I thought just put it outside and it will stay cold. Ed took it out back and placed it on the pick nick table in the back yard. That was fine until we let the dog out 5 minutes later. I sent Natalie out to rescue the cake before Bailey realized it was there. She got it and I told her to put it out front on the storage bin we have. She came back in and the cake was forgotten about until the kids went to bed.

As soon as the kids were in bed I remembered the cake and send Ed out to get it; he came back in and asked where it was. I told him where I told Natalie to put it and he said it was not there. So he walked around the front yard and found the cake in the middle of the front lawn, just sitting there!

I asked her about it this morning and she said, “You told me to put it out front!”

Also turns out it was a little warmer than we thought because the cake was not frozen solid, it was very melted but it still tasted good :-)
